After many failed attempts to penetrate the seedy underbelly of the video game store world and learn it’s secrets, I’ve finally managed to break through their security. Agent Link went in and was forced to give up two of his three lives and “sacrifice” her fairy friend Navi. But it was more than worth it. Here we talk to our contact, Agent Caleco* (*Name changed to protect anonymity) and learn all about the life of a female video game store assistant manager.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Karen Clark, a Project Manager at BioWare, where she is presently working on Dragon Age: Origins. Not only did she humor me by talking about how cool Dragon Age is, she discussed her views on a number of interesting topics, giving answers I think everyone should take a look at. When not working for BioWare, she blogs (at Finding something is losing something else), works with Women in Games International, and gives great interviews. Enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »

I have been visiting GamingAngels.com for quite a few months, and was impressed by the news and content available to their visitors and community members. When the chance of interviewing the CEO came up, I just knew I had to be the one to do it! It took a while to get hold of each other, but we managed eventually. So without further ado, presenting the Head Angel herself, Trina Schwimmer! Read the rest of this entry »

I recently was given the opportunity to interview Jill Duffy, editor for the Game Career Guide. Her job is to bring guidance and information to aspiring game developers, so if you fall into that category, listen up! Even if you’re not interested in getting into game development, Jill has a lot of interesting things to say about the state of the industry as well as the challenges and rewards of teaching others about it. Enjoy!

This month I got to interview Monica Valentinelli, a freelance writer who, truth be told, I had never even heard of. At least I didn’t think I had. After doing a little bit of research I realized that not only had she contributed to some of my favorite games — such as Obsidian and White Wolf’s Promethea– but she’s also a very talented novelist, opinionated blogger (see her blog, Words on the Water), and the project manager of a horror fanzine called Flames Rising. As someone who aspires to do what she does, I can honestly say her insight was not only helpful but inspiring as well. I hope my readers get as much from her as I did. Read the rest of this entry »

Sara Girard, Associate Brand Manager at Wizards of the Coast and marketing lead for Dungeons & Dragons, started visiting our forums in August last year, and I quickly started looking forward to her contributions in discussions. She’s been very visibly involved in the publicity surrounding the fourth edition of D&D (which will be launching almost as soon as this issue of Cerise goes live!), and I’m thrilled that she was willing to take some time out during what has to be a very busy month indeed for everyone associated with Dungeons & Dragons to answer some interview questions for us.
