A Note From the Editors
We apologize for the lateness of this issue and the sparsity of the content. A volunteer shortage coupled with other issues that caused the delay has helped us to realize that, if we are to continue bringing our unique perspective to the gaming community, things need to change. And so it is with some regret that we announce that this will be the last issue of Cerise for a while, as we are putting the magazine on hold while it goes through a complete overhaul.

Though it may be a while, we are looking forward to coming back with a new, more stylish site that has a format more suited to an online publication. We ask our loyal readers to bear with us as we implement these changes. While you wait, please enjoy this and past issues, and be sure to check out the great blogs that are part of our parent site: the Iris Gaming Network.

Interview
By JoAnna Gootee

After many failed attempts to penetrate the seedy underbelly of the video game store world and learn it’s secrets, I’ve finally managed to break through their security. Agent Link went in and was forced to give up two of his three lives and “sacrifice” her fairy friend Navi. But it was more than worth it. Here we talk to our contact, Agent Caleco* (*Name changed to protect anonymity) and learn all about the life of a female video game store assistant manager.

Fatal Frame Withdrawal Syndrome

Friday, December 4th, 2009
By JoAnna Gootee

A very real, made-up psychological disorder caused by the lack of Nintendo importing the new Fatal Frame game.

It’s been a few months since Halloween and I’m already getting “The Itch”. Which itch you may ask? To go Trick or Treating? To carve pumpkins? To jump out of bushes scarring small children and running cackling into the night? (The latter tends to get you arrested any other time of year.) Read the rest of this entry »

Craft Check: Gaming Gloves

Gamer Glove
By Robyn Fleming

I improvised this fingerless “glove” (they would be more properly called wrist-warmers, I believe) pattern when my heater broke down one winter semester and I had a lot of papers due. I needed something that would help keep my hands warm, but which left me freedom of movement so that I could type. Later, I discovered that these gloves work as well for gamers as they do for students, allowing one to keep toasty while handling a controller, stylus or pencil just as easily as a keyboard and mouse.
