Rest in Peace, Gary Gygax
Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, died at age 69 on March 4th. Regarded as a major influence on the fantasy roleplaying game genre, Gygax has already been memorialized on countless forum and blog posts around the internet. Rich Burlew’s Order of the Stick homage is particularly touching.
Bingo!
Reader and forum-goer Dove Arrow has prepared a “bingo” card for feminist tabletop roleplaying gamers to use. Here’s what Dove Arrow has to say about it:
Now, whenever someone responds to you with a statement like “But mostly men play this game,” or “Male characters are drawn topless too,” instead of feeling obligated to refute this argument for the 45th time, you can simply shout “Bingo!” and direct that person to Dove Arrow’s Blog About Feminism and Gaming. There, the respondent can read a carefully crafted refutation of their argument, as well as many others.
